AI Disclosure & Transparency Policy

UpliftOS agents can chat, speak with a synthetic voice, and appear as AI avatars. People have a right to know when they are interacting with AI. This policy explains the transparency rules that apply when you deploy AI to communicate with others, and how UpliftOS supports them.

1. When Disclosure Is Required

A growing body of law requires you to tell people when they are communicating with an AI system rather than a human. These include:

  • California B.O.T. Act: bots must disclose their non-human status in certain commercial and electoral contexts
  • EU AI Act (Art. 50): users must be informed when they interact with an AI system, and AI-generated/altered media must be labeled
  • FTC guidance: impersonating a human or failing to disclose AI can be a deceptive practice
  • Various state deepfake and synthetic-media disclosure laws

2. Conversational Agents (Chat, Voice, Calls)

When an agent communicates with a person on your behalf, you must not present it as a human where the law requires disclosure. As a baseline practice, UpliftOS asks you to:

  • Clearly identify the agent as AI at the start of a chat, call, or message
  • Avoid agent names or scripts designed to deceive the recipient into believing they are speaking with a specific real person
  • Offer a path to reach a human where required by law or sector rules
  • Keep AI out of contexts where automated interaction is prohibited (certain regulated advice, emergency lines, etc.)

3. Synthetic Voices & AI Avatars

UpliftOS supports synthetic voices and AI video avatars. You must not use them to clone or imitate a real person's voice, face, or likeness without that person's written permission. Doing so can violate right-of-publicity, deepfake, and consumer-protection laws.

  • Only use voices and avatars you are licensed to use
  • Label AI-generated audio/video where the law requires it
  • Never use synthetic media to defraud, defame, or mislead

4. AI-Generated Content

UpliftOS generates text, code, branding, and other content from your prompts and inputs. AI output can be inaccurate, biased, or infringe third-party rights. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated output before relying on it or publishing it, and for disclosing AI authorship where required.

AI-generated compliance, legal, financial, or medical content is informational only and is not a substitute for professional advice. See our AI Policy and Terms of Service.

5. How UpliftOS Supports Transparency

  • AI interactions surface a visible indicator that you are interacting with an agent
  • Recorded calls display a recording indicator
  • Configuration controls let you add disclosures to your agents' scripts

These features assist compliance but do not replace your obligation to disclose where the law requires it.
